Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has praised Dave Kitson after the striker scored his first goal for the Potters.

Kitson was on target after just two minutes in Stoke’s 3-2 friendly victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday.

Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: “Kitson looked bright, he scored a good goal and could have had another two.”

The 28-year-old became Stoke’s record signing when he joined from relegated Reading for £5.5m in July.

Stoke play their only home friendly of the pre-season campaign against Spanish side Osasuna on Friday.

Striker Ricardo Fuller could play a part in that game as he continues to recover from a knee operation.
